Night Fishing

A unique after-dark fishing experience under the Maldivian stars.

When the sun goes down, the ocean comes alive in a different way. Night fishing is a Maldivian tradition — heading out after dark to fish the reef edges when nocturnal species emerge to feed.

The experience starts as the last light fades and the stars appear. Far from any city lights, the Maldivian night sky is spectacular — the Milky Way arches overhead, and shooting stars are common. The boat's lights attract plankton, which in turn attracts baitfish, which brings the predators you're hoping to catch.

Using hand lines — the traditional Maldivian method — you'll fish for red snapper, grouper, emperor fish, and more. The crew provides all equipment, bait, and expert guidance. Night fishing often produces bigger catches than daytime sessions, as larger fish venture out of their daytime hiding spots to hunt.

The atmosphere on the boat is special. Anchored under the stars, with the gentle rocking of the waves and the quiet concentration of fishing, it's both exciting and meditative. When a fish strikes in the darkness, the rush is amplified — you can't see what you've hooked until it breaks the surface.

As with our sunset fishing, anything you catch goes to our kitchen. Your breakfast table might feature last night's catch, prepared fresh by our chef.
