Bodufolhudhoo Island
A peaceful local island in the North Ari Atoll — stunning house reef, manta ray encounters, and authentic Maldivian island life.
The Island
Bodufolhudhoo is a small local island in the North Ari Atoll (Alifu Alifu Atoll), one of the Maldives' most biodiverse regions. Unlike resort islands, Bodufolhudhoo offers an authentic glimpse into Maldivian island life — friendly locals, quiet streets lined with tropical plants, and a pace of life guided by the ocean.
The island is surrounded by a stunning house reef teeming with marine life. Step off the beach and within minutes you're snorkeling among colorful coral, reef fish, sea turtles, and baby sharks. Ari Atoll is world-renowned for its manta ray encounters, and whale shark excursions to the South Ari Atoll are a full-day trip away.
Despite its tranquil character, Bodufolhudhoo is well-connected. A 20-minute seaplane from Malé lands at nearby Gangehi resort, followed by a quick 5–8 minute boat ride. The island has a bikini beach for tourists, local shops, and a mosque — a genuine Maldivian community welcoming visitors with warmth.
